PRE AND POSTNATAL

I gained my Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates certification with the Thoughtful Body Ltd in 2010, training with Rachel Rafiefar. I have also trained in pregnancy yoga through triyoga and with The Centre for Women’s Fitness in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Diastasis Recti recovery. I love working with women at this wonderful time and I am committed and passionate about giving you the tools for a healthy pregnancy, birth and beyond!

Pilates is beneficial before and after all types of birth and I will support you in whatever direction you take. I have experience in PGP, Diastasis Recti, prolapse, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome and a whole host of common pregnancy related issues.

PRE & POST NATAL

Pilates is a perfect form of exercise during and after your pregnancy – both for you and your growing baby. It supports you through postural changes and improves muscle tone, strength and mobility. You will work on posture and alignment, breathing techniques and relaxation as well as understanding and working with your pelvic floor. We will work with you functionally to enable you to transfer what you have learned to make positive changes in your every day lives.

Your Pilates offers small group and private tuition in your home.

YOUR PRE NATAL PILATES

Supporting you through the physical changes of pregnancy, preparing you for birth and setting you up for your postnatal recovery.

Our prenatal Pilates and birth preparation programmes are structured to address postural changes and demands throughout each trimester and help to focus you on a positive birth experience. The prenatal programme for new clients starts at 13 weeks and from then on I will work with you to set a foundation in deep abdominal strength to support your baby. Pilates is suitable to continue with right up until the birth but the pace will adapt as your pregnancy progresses and the focus of classes will change as the birth approaches. We will work on optimal foetal positioning and prepare your body and mind for your birthing experience and beyond.

We have experience in successfully working with a range of pregnancy related conditions including Diastasis Recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, Pelvic Girdle Pain, sciatica, back and neck problems and carpal tunnel syndrome. Grace is qualified as a pregnancy yoga teacher and has also attended an Active Birth course with Janet Balaskas, which have both influenced her style of teaching to assist you with positions for labour, birth preparation and breathing techniques.

We offer weekly specialist pregnancy Pilates classes in St Albans that allow a supportive, non-competitive environment for you to develop your practice. You will have the chance to tell us what you are hoping to achieve from the sessions so that classes are planned to help you fulfil your aims as a group; we will help you to monitor your progress and respond to your individual needs. Through our classes you will gather a deeper knowledge and understanding of Pilates and your body that you can take out into your everyday life. While we direct and correct, we will also give you space to experiment with what is right for your body. It’s about your class experience, your confidence in your body and, above all, your enjoyment of movement.

CENTRED MUMS POSTNATAL PILATES

We offer weekly specialist postnatal Pilates classes in St Albans that allow a supportive, non-competitive environment for you to develop your practice.

Your first step in post natal exercise can start as early as after your 6 week check; enjoy regaining stability and strength, increase energy levels and learn techniques to support your posture and every day activities with your baby.

We have experience in supporting new Mums with a range of postnatal conditions including
Abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti), Pelvic floor weakness and dysfunction, Sacroiliac problems, Pelvic Girdle Pain, Pelvic organ prolapse or weakness and general back pain.
If you have had any specific problems postnatally you might be best to start with some private classes before moving into a group situation. Feel free to get in touch for an informal chat and we can decide what will best suit your needs.

CENTRED MUMS POSTNATAL PLAN
I have developed a new and exciting course that combines my love of Pilates with sound nutrition advice and a home programme to take away from the course. The course will include the following
A 6 week block of 6 x 60 minute Pilates classes where you can bring your baby (worth £90)
One to one deep screening and introductory session before the course begins (worth £75)
